In 2007 Laura was appointed as Assistant Curator at University of Dundee Exhibitions Department where she works on a diverse exhibition and event programme involving students, staff and invited artists across four galleries. Professional development for students and staff is very important in this role and input from Exhibitions involves project work, tutorials, application draft reading, talks, events and lectures. Exhibitions also functions as a hub for information for those within the college and also for external curators and other professionals.

Laura has finished a year-long period of research into emergent artists' film practice in the UK and Germany, which included meeting and visits to HBK Braunschweig, Osnabreuck European media Arts Festival and Berlin. This project was funded by the Scottish Arts Council. The focus was modes of presentation as well as content and there was several public screening events as part of the project. The first of which was Transitional State, as part of the Edinburgh Art Festival.

Laura Simpson has been based in Dundee for the last twelve years, firstly as a student at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design, graduating from the Master of Fine Art course in 2003. Following this she was involved with the artist-led group Generator for several years, latterly as the Chairperson of the committee. During this period she managed and curated many on and off-site projects with local and international artists as well as working on building links with other artist-groups throughout Europe.

Laura also continues to develop solo curation and writing projects for example 'Companion Piece' an exhibition in May '08 which showcased the work of three Dundee based artists in a vacant shop nearby the art college and an interview with artist Aileen Campbell for art ' zine Yuck 'N Yum.
